Cheltenham 2019 Race Dates

Cheltenham has a busy race card all through the year, and racing takes place in January, March, April, May, October, November and December.

New Year’s Day

Many racecourses in Britain host races on the first day of the year, but Cheltenham is quite different as combines quality racing with that of a fun day out for the whole family.

This New Year’s Day in 2019 will feature seven great races, including two Grade 2 events. Stables, trainers and jockeys will all be there trying to get their 2019 off to a flying start. As well as the fabulous racing the famous Cheltenham Family Fun Zone will be there to give plenty of free entertainment to kids.

Also during the day, there will be appearances from Paw Patrol’s Chase and Marshall. There will also be live music provided by The Hipcats Big Band with their brand of upbeat jazz and swing.

The Gold Cup Festival

Starting on March the 12th with Champion Day, The Gold Cup Festival begins for 2019. It is followed on the 13th March with Ladies Day, and then St Patrick’s Thursday before the actual Gold Cup on Friday 15th of March.

Champion Day

Champion Day is the opening day of the festival and it brings together the whole Cheltenham race-going fraternity for the festival roar. It is one of the most classic moments in racing as old friends and strangers join together to celebrate the opening of Britain’s favourite Jump Racing event. Day one of the 2018 festival saw Buveur D’Air win the Champion Hurdle.

Ladies Day

Ladies Day always adds a splash of colour to any major race meeting, and Cheltenham is no different. It gives the opportunity for racegoers to don their favourite silks and suits to grace the Home of Jump racing. The fashion is of just as high caliber as the first-class racing that takes place.

Ladies Day 2018 was the long-awaited battle between Altior and Douvan, with Altior storming home in a valiant finish.

St Patrick’s Thursday

The third day of the festival has a real Irish flavour to it, as Cheltenham celebrates St Patrick’s Day. As well as plenty of top-class racing the Guinness Village is packed to the rafters, and of course, there is plenty of music going on during the day.

In 2018 the Irish dominated the racing all through the four days of the Festival. Especially when they won the Ryanair Chase with Balko Des Flos. Live music was presented by the famous Fureys at the Guinness Village.

Gold Cup Day

The climax of the Jump racing season is Gold Cup Day and is an unmissable event for racegoers the world over. The Gold Cup is one of the most coveted prizes in racing and owners, trainers and jockeys are eager to win it.

It is the ultra equine event, as the crowds rejoice at the home of Jump Racing to cheer the winner across the finish line. And celebrations continue long into the night with top-class entertainment on site.

Missing out on any of the great racing events at Cheltenham is a sad loss, and should you and your friends wish to travel to any of the dates then simply contact George Regal Transport and we will take care of all your group transportation.
